Chapter Ten

“ANOKI!”

The blow across his chin wrenched his head to one side. He turned back and was startled to find himself facing Pike instead of his mother.

His mother had come to hurt him. She was going to hurt him through Myron.

The fury he felt consumed him. He flung aside his shield, threw his head back, and screamed. The demiurge caught his monumental rage and trembled with it. And that made the land itself quake.

Pike was thrown off his feet. He curled his body into a ball, covering his head with his arms, while Anoki’s wrath rippled through the tundra.
